Within weeks of the crisis, this project-based public charter school deployed their staff as mentors, coaches and parent communicators of 10-student pods and sent virtual reality headsets so that students could take class “field trips” to the Coliseum, the moon, the Louvre and more, innovations that continued as they returned to in-person learning. The Missouri Department of Education told them they couldn’t get attendance dollars for this asynchronous learning model, but they are continuing it anyway, a great demonstration of permissionless education.
