Struggling students must make up the deficiencies of their school on their own time, after school. Organizations like the GO Foundation ensure they get what they need in school, connecting well-trained Americorps-funded fellows to deliver high-dosage tutoring (HDT) during the school day. During the pandemic they expanded quickly to schools like the Baltimore Collegiate School for Boys (BCBS) via Zoom, often despite the push back of bureaucracies criticizing them for not following “the rules.” A great example of STOP, schools representing as many as 10,000 more students want GO.
